Use a jigsaw with the proper laminate cutting blade - teeth on blade should be downward pointing - cut from top laminate face - WILPU blades are the best for this if you can find them!

Use a fine cut saw to cut and do not press down on it. Let the weight of the saw do the work. Use a good spirit level to ensure that it is fitted true and fix to the wall underneath with right angled support brackets. Above all take your time and check everything 3 times before cutting, fixing or screwing.

Use a decent saw, cut firmly so the blade doesn’t slip, and of course cut in a straight line. Perhaps you could use some tape on your line, so that it both helps see the line you are cutting and reduces risk of surface damage.
If lazy use a jigsaw, but that it much more risky for a fine cut, Its not worth £60 odd quid if it goes wrong and you gotta buy a new lengh of worktop..

I fit kitchens for a living.
You must turn the worktop upside down and cut it with a portable ripsaw. This is because the teeth point forward and up and therefore will chip off the laminate as the ‘return’ teeth pass. You can also use an ‘opposite’ jigsaw blade if you can’t turn it upside down. (the teeth point down). Make sure (if theres any taper) that your measurements are opposite or you will find that it tapers the wrong way when you come to fit. (Because its upside down, its opposite). ALWAYS measure from the front (rounded edge).

best cut from underside with circular saw. can use jig saw but do tend to cut out of square. be careful with top as gloss laminate tends to scratch easily
