depends on which type of joints you want…
basically you have the diy one and use a joining stip…or if you want the very neat worktop to worktop joint with the small curve on the front face….pay someone else…lol
The tight joints are called masons mitres and are done with a large router and using a specialised jig…
however if it is the diy wasy you are looking towards i would do it thus..
1.work out the most cost effective way to lay yourworktops eg do you nedd 2 or 3 depending on the layout….
2.i would hand cut the worktops assuming you can saw a straight line…but score the top face first with a stanley knife using a guide this way the formica wont splinter
3.i assume you can measure and mark (not being rude) so its easy enough to get your lenghts right
4.it is sometimes easier to chop out the back wall a little to enable the worktops to sit square and remmember you can have a small gap since the tiles will take up a certain depth..
really it all depends on how confident and what handskills you have..if you are happy to do it just take your time a nd it is quite easy…
the masons mitres road is really for the pro or experienced diy er with a serious router the correct router bits and the jig..
regards geoff

Where the actual curve of the u is you can be butting up three/ four pieces of work top together that will need routing out, unless your competant I’d definately get someone in to do it.
